Addition Support for Farmers in Ayrshire

Producers of quality meat and cereals on Ayrshire farms are to be given additional support to improve the welfare of livestock.

The Scottish Government has confirmed that animal welfare measures and three quality assurance schemes have been added to to the Scotish Rural Development Programme.

European approvel was secured following lengthy negotiations and the programme will form part of "Land Management Options" and will be available this year.
